BlackBerry TV Challenges the Apple and Google TV?

The power of Research In Motion (RIM) appears to be more complete with the presence of  this one  product. RIM reportedly makes the device called the BlackBerry TV which will also  nliven  the realm of  digital  TV.

RIM wanted to bring more content than through smartphones and internet tablets. Thus, digital TV devices that display the content on a larger screen to answer.

Although RIM has not confirmed its truth by itself, as quoted from Slashgear, Friday (15/07/2011), this device is touted to compete with Apple TV and Google TV.

But unlike Apple TV and Google TV that target domestic consumers, RIM's devices will be aimed at the enterprise. Citing internal sources who declined to be named RIM, BlackBerry TVs will use QNX software.

The features contained on the BlackBerry TV namely BlackBerry Presenter, namely accessory that allows BlackBerry smartphone users send their PowerPoint presentations wirelessly to the TV.

To date, there has been no more information about the detailed specifications BlackBerry TV. To be sure his presence would disturb plans Apple TV and Google TV.

Google Will Rename Picasa and Blogger

Two popular service owned by Google, Picasa and Blogger will soon disappear. Not that Google remove them, but because the Internet giant  wants to 'throw' the name of the product to be renamed.

Picasa and Blogger that have been renamed, will remain a key component of Google family of products. Such information is quoted from PC World, on Wednesday (07/06/2011).

Rebranding Picasa and Blogger is reportedly part of Google new strategy in introducing Google +, where several products that do not use Google's name was retired and replaced with names that include Google's behalf.

According to Mashable reports, six weeks away, the image editing service and the popular blogging platform will be renamed Google Photos and Google Blogs. But Google itself would not comment when questioned about this rebranding plan.

Google's decision is quite reasonable, considering the users of both services is generally less ngeh that the services they use are Google products. Well, the integration of Picasa and Blogger to Google + is expected to be the answer.

Me On The Web, Google's Newest Applications

The new application  called  'Me on the Web' is intended for those interested in finding out the online reference about their names and other personal information that may be  false, inaccurate or  even libelous.

Specifically, Me on the Web simplify the Google Alerts, which features Google provides notification when the Google search engine to find specific terms on the internet via email, Me on the Web too. This application will inform you via email when finding information relating to the name of the user.

"Me on the Web also provides links to sources of information that tells how to control what is posted about your third-party applications on the Internet," wrote Google product manager, Andreas Tuerk on the Google blog.

Quoted from PC World, Thursday (06/16/2011), to use the Me on the Web, users must first have a Google account. This application will appear in the 'Dashboard' in your Google account.

The presence of Me on the Web inspired by the rise of social media mentions someone's name and information in the online realm. This information is often used for certain purposes. For example, it is common a company looking for applicants information that will be recruited over the internet. The information found can be wrong and ultimately detrimental to the applicant. So, with Me on the Web, Google helps protect your reputation.

Google Provides Flight Schedule on Search Results

The holiday season arriving soon. Google wants to make it easier for travelers to find information on holiday schedules by adding flights on its search results.

This additional information will display the flight schedule between two specific cities, which became the location of the user's vacation destination. The search results will be displayed in the box below Google's paid search results.

"This is just a small step to enrich the travel information to be more easily found," said Google Software Engineer, Petter Wedum, reported by the Wall Street Journal, Sunday (29/05/2011).

Flight information service comes seven weeks after the Internet giant is successful in acquiring ITA Software for USD 700 million. For information, ITA Software has specialized in managing the airline data, including flight schedules, availability and prices.

But in his blog, Google said the display of travel information in the search results are not using ITA Software's search technology.

Previously, Microsoft had already been serving a similar service at the Bing. Microsoft's search engine also provides a search for flight schedules and ticket prices.

Google Prepares Offline Access to Google Docs

Google Docs users, it's no longer, access files on these services not only be done when it is online only, but you can also access them when you're not connected to the Internet.

Senior Vice President of Google, Pichai Sunday, confirmed that Google will soon allow offline access to Google Docs. But he did not say when the exact time.

"We all wear them on Google has internally. We need to ensure that the service was very good before it is ready to be released," he said as quoted by TG Daily, Friday (05/20/2011).

According to him, offline access will be very useful for the user while in transit on planes or trains without Wi-Fi access. Thus, they can still work on documents or files without an internet connection.
